First day of the 2016 Power Tour

Saturday June 11th
We stayed at the Springhill Suites in Gonzalez LA.  It is a very nice new hotel.  Great choice, great location and very close to the Lamar Dixon Expo Center, where the event was held today.

When we got here totally exhausted around midnight last night.  At check in the desk clerk wrote the wrong room number on our key cards.  David had to go back down and get it fixed, didn't take long.  Seemed like the perfect ending for the day we had yesterday.

We both slept very well but were up around 8.  Today was the first day and first city for the 2016 Power Tour.  We left the hotel for Lamar Dixon Expo Center around 9:30.  The lines for packet pick up were long but moved pretty quickly.  We then headed around to the actual show/event.

We wandered around for a couple hours and went to most of the vender booths.  There are a whole lot of really nice cars here!  It was so hot & humid that we were both done and needed to get out of the heat.  We headed to Quaker Steak for lunch.  It was right across the street from our hotel so it was very convenient.  The food was just okay and it seemed to take a really long time.
We went back to the hotel so David could straighten out his tools and stuff in the trunk of the car after yesterday's adventures.  While he was doing that it started raining and I took a little nap.  The rain stopped so we went across the road to the outlet center and looked around a little.  While we were there it started pouring rain so we decided to head back to the hotel and wait for the rain to stop.

We were told about a couple really good local seafood restaurants and wanted to try one.  The wait at both of them was at least an hour.  We didn't want to wait that long so we ended up at Mooyah burgers which was very good.

Then back to the hotel so David could go wander the parking lot and join in the parking lot party.  I stayed in the room to catch up on my blog posts and get things ready for an early start tomorrow.  More tomorrow from Baytown, TX.
